As you may have realised from various posts in the last year or two we have a number of Indian contractors working in my company.

Last night Pallavi got very excited. She's only been the UK for a few months and last night, for the first time in her life, she saw snow. She took some photographs of herself and her husband standing in the falling snowflakes with big grins on their faces. So very sweet (though it has to be said that Pallavi is one of the most consistently sweet and cheerful people I've ever had the pleasure to work with).

But never seen snow - that seems so weird!

My cousins Paul, Alan, and Chris grew up in the bay area in CA. When they were around the 7/8/9 age range, they spent Christmas in Milwaukee with Grandma (my aunt Marge). She borrowed some coats and hats from the neighbors and sent them out to the back yard to play in the snow, which they'd never seen before.

After a bit, she went out to see how they were doing. Grandpa had taught them how to make snowballs and they were working on a snowman. "What do you think, boys? Do you like snow?" They were all very enthusiastic: "It's great, Grandma! But why are we COLD?"

Ah bless!

And we were amazed by your October snow only a couple of days ago, and here we are with snow of our own.

Had that happen with a Californian exchange student when I was at university. It was very cute.

I'd probably be much the same! I can't think when I last saw real snow - there certainly wasn't much last winter.
