bookzombie: (kyocat)
I've had a call from the vet and it isn't good news.

They have drawn some of the fluid and it has come out with blood in it. They are pretty sure that it is a liver tumour. They could open her up to check but it would probably do more harm than good.

Slightly more positively, she is okay right at this moment, fairly bright and alert and eating properly. So we are going to bring her home. They can give her some tablets which will help a bit.

But she is likely to deteriorate quite quickly now so we may not have her for more than a few more days. Once it is obvious that she is getting worse then we should take her back in and have her put down.

So at least we will get her back for a few days.

I've got Josie back from the vets and the impression is a little more optimistic than before. Basically she could have a tumour or it could be cysts, but she has probably got weeks or even months, rather than days as we originally thought.

We've got some tablets to give her which will help bring the liquid level down and make her more comfortable. Other than that we just have to keep looking after her until there is some significant degeneration, in which case we will have to take her back for another look.

So a slightly better picture than earlier.
