bookzombieMy PS3 died today. I think it might be my fault in part (leaving it with a game on pause for an inordinate length of time) so I'm not inclined to get too sniffy about it.
It's way out of warranty and they don't sell the 60gb models anymore. The very helpful chap at the helpline told me that what they could do was replace it with what is essentially a reconditioned one. But given that would cost me £145, I could get a new 80gb PS3 for £270 and there are rumours of a price cut in the next couple of months I think I will politely decline that one.
We did use it as our main DVD player (and we do have a small handful of Blu-ray disks), plus there's quite a lot of Singstar stuff downloaded so we will definitely want to replace it, but we've got other DVD players so there's not too much of a hurry.
Compared with other people's worries, frankly, it's an incredibly minor problem!
