Our cats are confusing us.

Bob had a bit of a limp when we went away to Wiscon and yesterday I noticed that when he jumped down from my arms he was avoiding putting his rear left leg on the ground until he'd walked about a bit. So, as [livejournal.com profile] pennski has an early finish today she was going to take him to the vet.

This morning Snowy walked into the kitchen making complaining noises, and favouring the same leg! I touched the side of the leg and she really wasn't happy and then proceeding to walk out of the kitchen through the hall and out the cat flap making slight growling noises. You know sometimes you pass people in the street and they seem to be angrily muttering to themselves? That's exactly what she sounded like!

So it looks like pennksi is taking two cats to the vet this afternoon...

Sounds like a cat plot to me.
I hope they're both okay. It may be that they've had a little squabble or some such.

We did have the suspicion this morning that either Snowy is taking the mickey out of Bob or both of them are taking the mickey out of us ("that'll teach you to go on holiday and leave us behind!")

Arthritis?

That's definitely one of the options, for Bob anyway. He did come to us slightly broken (he has neglected as a very young kitten and has claw retraction issues due to infection and a slightly damaged tail as well) so the vet offered arthritis as a possible cause. Snowy, on the other hand, is more likelt to have pulled muscle - although we do need to watch for infection in case it's caused by a fight.

Anyway there are both on liquid painkillers for two weeks and then see how they are after that.
