What are you reading now?

Conversations with Octavia Butler edited by Conseula Francis. A collection of over 20 interviews from various venues between 1980 and 2006. I've literally just started this so no real thoughts yet! I suspect that a lot of the information in the interviews will be repeated, so I expect to read a few, then break for something else.

What did you just finish?
Faceless Killers- Henning Mankell (translated by Steven T. Murray.) First of the Inspector Wallander detective novels. This one left me a bit 'meh' - the structure and the mystery are nicely done, and there's a great sense of place. The tone is fairly grim, but that's to be expected. But I just didn't warm to our hero; he's very reactionary and spend much of the novel moaning about the state of Sweden and how everything is going downhill - especially because of those foreigners moving into the country. There's also his pursuit of a married younger woman - leading to a drunken almost-sexual assault, which is later forgiven. I'm glad I gave it a go, but I can't say that I'm going to be in a tearing hurry to reading any of the other books in the series.

What books have you acquired this week?
The Big Finish Companion Volume 1 - Richard Dinnick. Bought directly from Big Finish Productions this is an episode guide to their CDs.
