The weather has turned a bit colder here over the last few days (okay, not Wisconsin cold, but still...). So what is the one thing you don't want to happen when we finally get some cold winter weather?

That's right, you don't want your central heating to break down.

Guess what's happened?

This contributes to my theory that the force that really runs the world is irony.

Today will be our third visit from Mr Gasman. The first day he thought he'd worked out what it is but didn't have the part. Yesterday he replaced the part and let it run for a bit and after half an hour announced that it was probably fixed. I did point out to him that it ran for about 2 hours the night before without breaking down, but he was airily confident.

Fifteen minutes after he left the house it stopped working again.

And it snowed last night.

So at the moment we are making do on one gas-filled radiator and and an electric fan heater that a friend lent us.

Sigh.

Ack!!! I hope they fix it permanently soon... that's awful. I remember a few days of cold last year where we didn't have any heat (& one this year, actually). They suck. @ least the snow means things are getting slightly warmer? (Here, anyway, it never snows when it's really REALLY cold)

Yeah, it warmed up when it started snowing here in Boston a few days ago, too.

Well it's all gone a bit weird. The chap determined that it was the PCB that is the problem (I'm assuming he means Printed Circuit Board but I haven't heard anyone use that expression for years). So he's back again tomorrow with a replacement part.

But since he left the heating has been working okay.

Search me...!

I once had no heat for three days in northern Missouri in February. I had to sleep in a hat, and even then it was so cold that mostly I couldn't sleep at all. I hope you get it fixed for good soon!
