Who solves crimes - according to tv
Feb. 24th, 2010 10:33 amNow I admit I likes me some crime dramas, but I'm amused by the way some of the programmes portray who solves the case (inspired by watching season 1 of Criminal Minds while reading Val McDermid's latest).
CSI (all varieties but especially Miami): The police don't solve crimes, CSIs solve crimes
Lie to Me: The police don't solve crimes, body languange analysts solve crimes
Criminal Minds: The police don't solve crimes, profilers solve crimes
I'd love to see a cross-over before these series with all the principal characters arguing about whose ideas are best, while police get on with solving the case!
I've just finished reading the latest Val McDermid 'Tony Hill' novel (Fever of the Bone), where the profiler gives a few pointers but it's police legwork that actually solves the case - overall a good'n.
