So the latest on the central heating is that it still isn't working. A senior engineer turned up on Friday and opined that the previous engineers had done all the obvious things. Naturally it didn't fail while he was here. So he has ordered some more parts which he will bring over tomorrow and see if that helps.

In the meantime the heating was cutting out regularly again over the weekend. The weather has turned milder and you can restart the heating so it's not the end of the world, but I'm starting to just get irritated with it now.

Meanwhile our friendly neighbourhood gardening man should be over during the day today to trim our hedgerows and sort out the apple tree today. We have a fairly large garden which takes rather more looking after than we really have the time to do. We have the equipment to trim the lower levels of the hedges but we can't reach the tops. It was a bit scary when we found out it is 4 years since we last had the hedges cut properly. Where does the time go...

The muntjac deer has been frequenting the garden again. A couple of photos below (several weeks apart). Apologies for the quality - I've cropped and enhanced them a little but my built-in telephoto lens is not the best in the world!

And for something completely different, [livejournal.com profile] pennski won a small mirrorball in a raffle a few weeks ago. We've hung it on the handle of the kitchen door where it catches the sun in the evening and sometimes gives the cats some glamour...:
