Yesterday was our wedding anniversary (18 years!) and we went out to the local indian restaurant for a meal.

They had recently had the door repainted and it was stuck in a semi-closed position.

I pushed it. It wouldn't open.

I pushed it again. It stayed stubbornly stuck.

I put a bit of shoulder action into the push. Door opened, accompanied by the tinkle of glass as I smashed the glass in the upper part of the door.

Oh. Dear.

Luckily (maybe because we are regulars) the staff took it all very well and just took to teasing me about it all evening, rather than charging me for the repairs!

([personal profile] pennskibought me a very nice bottle of 18 year old Talisker as a present. Now that is a fine whiskey...)

Happy anniversary! I'm glad the restaurant wasn't irked by your door mishap... I would be inclined to blame them for having such a crappy door, myself. ;)

Don't know your own strength? :)

These things happen from time to time. Someone I know saw a YouTube video of a guy climbing up the walls of his hallway by leaning on one wall and walking his feet up the other. So he tried it in the hallway of his own (rented) flat, and put his foot through the plasterboard.

Oops.

At least you were trying to do something sensible at the time. And you didn't hurt yourself. My brother fell through a glass door as a child, and emerged scot-free, too.

Happy anniversary! (Either your profile pic is really old, or you look very young to have been married that long...)

You're very kind. Actually the photo was only taken three or four months ago! I'm 41 going on 42, as it happens!

18 year old Talisker seems like a fine way to celebrate your anniversary. Congratulations!

Ooh. I'm coming over to your house for a nightcap.

Congrats on the anniversary! 18 years is pretty darn good. (We just had our 8th, but this October will mark 15 years for us as an exclusive couple!)
