Two short attempts at getting back on the treadmill again and...yep, my back is playing up again.

I've been looking around and have picked up various pieces of advice. So I probably shouldn't do any uphill running and watch that I don't 'bounce' too much and make sure I wear my running shoes not trainers. Making sure I do more core strength exercises wouldn't do any harm either...

But this does keep happening and I'm starting to get to the point where I may have to accept that with my knee and back problems maybe I just can't do running.

(I daren't mention the problem at work - we've got a lot of runners and I'll get a chorus of people Telling Me What I'm Doing Wrong. Not in the mood for that...)

If it helps, I can't run either for the same reasons. Have you considered power walking? Much more controlled, and far less impact. Your other option is an elliptical machine. I covet one.

Yes, getting an elliptical machine is an option to consider if there's no improvement (I know fitness superstore well; all our current kit comes from them!)
