Two short attempts at getting back on the treadmill again and...yep, my back is playing up again.

I've been looking around and have picked up various pieces of advice. So I probably shouldn't do any uphill running and watch that I don't 'bounce' too much and make sure I wear my running shoes not trainers. Making sure I do more core strength exercises wouldn't do any harm either...

But this does keep happening and I'm starting to get to the point where I may have to accept that with my knee and back problems maybe I just can't do running.

(I daren't mention the problem at work - we've got a lot of runners and I'll get a chorus of people Telling Me What I'm Doing Wrong. Not in the mood for that...)

Well, the bad back has been a little bit better today - I'm hoping to be mobile and pain-free enough to drive to the office tomorrow but we'll see (and get to rehearsal as well - I really can't afford to miss any more.)

In the meantime I've had a telephone assessment of the issue and a physio assessment has been arranged - although not until next Tuesday. It's the same physio [livejournal.com profile] pennski has used in the past and P. has always found her very good. In some ways I'm glad that it has finally hit a crisis: I've had sore chest muscles on and off for about a year now and upper back pain on and off for a couple of months so it's time to get my muscular-skeletal system sorted out once and for all!
